Career Highlights

Cath has:

· photographed over 250 public art murals to raise awareness of the power of public art to foster positive development. Later, the naming of her business, Bees on a Bicycle, was inspired by Matthew Lively’s mural of bees on unicycles.

Select achievements

Created messaging and strategy that utilized 30 different communication tools and increased individual participation by 60% in less than a year.

Locally managed a social media campaign for a national nonprofit organization utilizing 150 message boards, listservs and blogs. Of the 16 communication agencies involved in local outreach efforts across the country, our regional response rates were three times the highest in the nation.

Developed messaging and overall art direction for an advocacy communication toolkit that generated sufficient national media attention and discussion that the U.S. Chamber of Commerce ordered over 600 and sent one directly to each individual member of Congress.

National Volunteer Coordinator -Cath was selected from a pool of 7,000 people to coordinate national volunteer efforts with a team of 700 for the next AIDS Memorial Quilt display on the National Mall in Washington DC.

Winner, Best Garden Center  Though the smallest garden  center in the Chattanooga  area, this business, owned  and operated by Cath, won  this coveted regional award.

Best-selling author- Cath’s book, Bees on a Bicycle reached #1 in two categories and debuted at #38 world-wide in nonfiction, a huge category.

National speaking tour -Cath was selected from a pool of 8,000 members to speak nationwide, addressing topics such as homelessness and increased visibility of the profession of interior design itself.

Profession spokesperson- Cath led meetings on a national level, including both architecture and interior design leadership, each vying for the same market position.

Developed over 300 educational products, most notably the top-selling Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Resource Guide, which was ordered once every three minutes for six months.

· Certified Fast-Tracker, National Speakers’ Association. The NSA Fast Track Program is a rigorous, year-long public speaking course for selected candidates culminating in a speech in front of over 100 full-time public speakers assessing participant viability.

· FEMA National Incident Command System. Certification courses, animal rescue.

· Licensed Insurance Producer, TN State.

· Kiss the Ground Foundation, Educational Stewardship Program. Ongoing coursework about regenerative gardening methods to advocate effectively about solutions that lie within the soil creating healthier food, enhanced ecosystem and increased biodiversity.

Employment and national-level volunteer positions

Cath has had long runs at several organizations including: 13 years at Basis Branding (formerly Mediastudio), 4.5 years at The American Institute of Architects, 5 years at Bees on a Bicycle. Cath has also worked at Freddie Mac, Skidmore Owings and Merrill as well as held national-level volunteer positions at The American Society of Interior Designers and The NAMES Project AIDS Memorial Quilt.
